4-H Exhibits
General Rules |
|
1. |
|
All 4-H club leaders and
members are expected to become acquainted with these rules.
Supervisors and judges will strictly adhere to them. |
|
2. |
|
All 4-H Exhibits must be
made by enrolled 4-H members. Enrollment must be submitted
to the 4-H Office July 1, 2007. A member must be enrolled in
the project area and may enter only one individual exhibit
per numbered class, unless otherwise specified under the
class instructions. |
|
3. |
|
All 4-H club exhibits
MUST arrive at the Fair, Monday, August 6, between 2:00 -
7:00 p.m. Produce exhibits will be entered Wednesday, August
8th, 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Late arrivals will not be accepted. |
|
4. |
|
Judges will award all
exhibits as purple (state), blue, red, and white ribbons
according to the Danish system.
Premium money will be as
follows for exhibits except Produce:
Purple = State Quality $3.00;
Blue = $2.00;
Red $1.00; and
White = $.50.
Premium for Garden Produce –
Blue - $1.00;
Red $.50;
White $.25. |

|
Official entry blanks
should be attached to all entries showing name, age (as of
January 1, 2007), address, phase, and name of club leader.
Exhibits from 4-H'ers under 9 will be accepted at County
Fair, but are not eligible to exhibit at State Fair.
Information forms are required on specific exhibits in home
environment, clothing construction, childcare, arts and
crafts, food preservation, and range management. These entry
blanks may be picked up at the 4-H Office prior to Fair to
assist with entry. |

Exhibits needing special
props for display must be provided by the exhibitor. |
|
7. |
|
Size requirements and
limitations on exhibits: |

Any exhibits using
posters are limited to using one poster 22" x 28" or
smaller. |
| |
** |
Special exhibits and/or
"do your own thing" displays should not exceed 4' by 4' free
standing display to qualify to enter the State Fair. This
will facilitate display and transportation. Larger exhibits
will be accepted for County Fair only. |
| |
** |
All breads should be
baked in standard-size loaf tins (about 4 1/2" x 8 1/2", inside
measurements) to meet uniform judging size. |
| |
** |
Collections boxes should
not exceed 325 square inches for bottom measurement. The
collection must be arranged to allow glass covers to open at
the top or side of the box; the glass must be secured so
that glass will not move when the box is properly displayed
at the fair. |
| |
** |
All items entered, which
are normally hung on the wall, must provide some means for
attachment to the wall (i.e. all paintings, sketches, framed
items, woodworking, wall
hangings, articles using artificial or dried flowers are
included). All paintings and drawings must be framed or
matted. |
| |
** |
Be sure exhibits are well
made so they are stable enough to be moved. |

8. |
|
All exhibits MUST be
picked up Saturday, August 11th, between 5:00-6:00 p.m.
County Fair workers and Extension staff will not be held
responsible for items not picked up after the Fair. |

BALL "Fresh
Preserving" AWARD
FOR
YOUTH LEVEL
presented by:
BALL & KERR Fresh Preserving PRODUCTS |
| In recognition of youth who excel
in the art of fresh preserving (canning), Jarden Home
Brands makers of Ball and Kerr Fresh Preserving products
will present First Place Awards in designated recipe
categories. |
| A panel of judges will select the best entry
submitted by a youth in each category for Fruit, Vegetable, Pickle and
Soft Spread. Entries must be preserved in Ball or
Ball Collection Elite
Jars sealed with Ball Lids and Bands or Ball Collection
Elite Lids and Bands, or preserved in Kerr
Jars sealed with Kerr Lids and Bands or Ball Collection
Elite Lids and Bands. In addition, soft spread
entries will be limited to recipes prepared using Ball
Pectin: Original, No Sugar Needed or Liquid.
A proof of purchase for Ball Pectin must be provided at
time of entry. |
The best entry from each category
will receive the following:
Two (2) Five-Dollar ($5.00) Coupons for Ball or Kerr
Fresh Preserving Products. |

| Jarden Home Brands makers of Ball
and Kerr Fresh Preserving products is proud to
recognized today's fresh preserving (canning)
enthusiasts, so First and Second Place Awards will be
given to those individuals judged as the best in
designated recipe categories. |

entries submitted by an adult for Fruit, Vegetable,

WILTON CAKE
COMPANY
SPECIAL AWARDS FOR CAKE DECORATING |
| |
| A Wilton Yearbook of Cake
Decorating will be awarded to first prize winners in all
cake decorating categories. Only five Yearbooks
will be awarded to Junior Division and five Yearbooks to
adult division. Wilton will also award one "Best
of Class” award for the Junior and one for the
Adult division. "Best of Class" winners may choose
one of the following awards: Cupcake Fun, Tiered
Cake Books or Cake Decorating Basics (DVD). |
| "Best of Class" winners will also
receive a Wilton Yearbook of Cake
Decorating. |

CRAZY CRITTER
CONTEST |
Critters made of entire plant
materials may be entered Wednesday, August 8th between
8:00-10:00 a.m. Only one entry per individual. Prize
money will be awarded.
$15 first place,
$10 second place,
$5 third place. |

Participant must be currently
enrolled in 4-H (deadline 7/1). |

Contestants must comply with rules
governing each contest. Specific guidelines and
scorecards for competition are available at the 4-H
Office. |
