MINUTES FOR REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING HELD AUGUST 19, 2002 BEGINNING AT 1:00 P.M. IN THE COMMISSION BOARD ROOM
IN DUCHESNE, UTAH

Commissioners Present:  Acting Commission Chairman Guy R. Thayne, and Commissioner Larry S. Ross.  Commissioner Lorna Stradinger absent, attending meetings in Salt Lake.

Others Present:  Road Supervisor Douglas Nielsen, Deputy Attorney Roland Uresk, Clerk/Auditor Diane Freston, and Carol Casey taking minutes.

Pledge of Allegiance

Road Items:  Doug Nielsen stated that the road deparmtnet has laid 36,000 tons of asphalt.  They have three miles in the Pleasant Valley area and two miles in Arcadia left to do.  The deparment is scheduled to start chipping around September 3, 2002.

Auditor's Office - Vouchers - Tax Adjustments - Personnel Issues - Time Sheets   Clerk/Auditor Diane Freston informed the commission that Mr. Albert Weston wishes to deed his proeprty back to the county.  The taxes are current and there ar no encumbrances against the property.

Motion:   Commissioner Ross made a motion to accept property #2261-0016-0003.  Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  Both Commissioners Voting Aye.

Tax Adjustments - Assessor

Motion:   Commissioner Ross made a motion to accept the tax adjustment.  Motion carried.   Roll Call Vote:  Both Commissioners Voting Aye.

Vouchers:   Deputy Clerk/Auditor Leann Stewart presented vouchers #80418 to #80493 totaling $120,595.16 for approval.

Motion:   Commissioner Ross made a motion to approvae the vouchers.  Motion carried.   Roll Call Vote:  Both Commissioners Voting Aye.

Approval of August 12, 2002 Commission Minutes - The minutes were reviewed and corrections made.

Motion:   Commissioner Ross made a motion to accept the minutes with corrections.   Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  Both Commissioners Voting Aye.

Eagle Scout Presentation - Robert Checketts
Mr. Robert Checketts is from the Altamont 2nd Ward, Scout Troop 269.   Mr. Checketts thanked the commission for allwoing him to present his project to them.  His project is to place street sings in the Mt. Home area.  He stated that the signs will aid emergency vehciles in finding addresses.  Road Supervisor Douglas Nielsen will mark where the signs are to be placed.

2:30 PM Public Hearing - Road Vacation - Deep Creek Investments   Continuation of a public hearing held June 27th.  Class D Road vacation in T3S, R7W & T8W.  (see attachment for list of roads)

Deep Creek Investments prposed to vacate certain Class D Roads in order to maximize and dvelop deer and elk habitat.  Private easements will be granted to landowners located in the area.

No public commetns or objections were received.
