MINUTES FOR REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING HELD JANUARY 7, 2002 BEGINNING AT 1:00 P.M. IN THE COMMISSION BOARD ROOM IN DUCHESNE, UTAH

Commissioners Present:  Commission Chairman Guy R. Thayne, Commissioner Larry S. Ross, Commissioner Lorna Stradinger

Others Present:  Road Supervisor Douglas Nielsen, Deputy Clerk/Auditor Carol Casey

 Prayer: Commissioner Thayne

 Pledge of Allegiance

 Approval of December 31, 2001 Commission Minutes:   The minutes were reviewed and corrections made.

Motion:  Commissioner Ross motioned to accept the minutes with corrections.  Commissioner Stradinger second.  Motion carried.  

Roll Call Vote:    All Commissioners Voting Aye

Road Issues - Supervisor Douglas Nielsen
Doug presented payment request No. 9 in the amount of $2,788.74 to be paid to Horrocks Engineers for consultant services on the Strawberry Rivver bridge replacement project.

Motion:  Commissioner Ross motioned to accept payment request No. 9 in the amount of $2,788.74.  Commissioner Stradinger second.  Motion carried.

Roll Call Vote:    All Commissioners Voting Aye

Doug stated that the road department will be finished with County Road No. 93 in Utahn this week.

            Doug informed that commission that it is not feasible to use the fill material Mr. Hagman was going to provide for the project on Road No 64 in Arcadia.  The road department will haul the fill dirt from the county pit in the Lake Boren area instead.

Motion:  Commissioner Stradinger motioned to approve the tax adjustments. Commissioner Ross second. Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners Voting Aye. 

            Time Sheets:  Deputy Clerk/auditor Leann Stewart presented department head time sheet for review.

Vouchers: Deputy Clerk/Auditor Andrea Higbee presented vouchers #77742 to #77847 totaling $151,411.59  for approval.  

Motion:   Commissioner Stradinger motioned to approve the vouchers. Commissioner Ross second. Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners Voting Aye.

Judy Mutton – Personnel
Judy presented a commercial crime insurance policy for signature. She stated that the policy is in addition to the regular bonding for the treasurer.

Commissioner Thayne nominated Commissioner Stradinger as chairman for 2002.  Commissioner Ross moved that nominations cease.  Commissioner Thayne second.

Weed Board Appointmetns
There are three vacant seats ont he weed board.  The three applicants are:  James Dan Stevenson - Upper Country; Lee Nelson - Myton Area; Robert Baum - West Duchesne County Area.

Motion:   Commissioner Ross motioned to appoint the James Dan Stevenson, Lee Nelson, and Robert Baum to a four year term ont he weed board.  Commissioner Thayne second. Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners Voting Aye.
