MINUTES FOR REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING HELD DECEMBER 24, 2001 BEGINNING AT 10:00 A.M. IN THE COMMISSION BOARD ROOM
IN DUCHESNE, UTAH

Commissioners Present:  Commission Chairman Guy R Thayne, Commissioner Larry Ross, and Commissioner Lorna Stradinger.

Others Present:  Deputy County Attorney Roland Uresk, Deputy Clerk/Auditor Carol Casey.

Pledge of Allegiance

Approval of December 17, 2001 Commission Minutes - The minutes were reviewed and corrections made.

Motion:   Commissioner Ross motioned to accept the minutes with corrections.   Commissioner Stradinger second.  Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  All Commissioners Voting Aye.

Awarding of Duchesne County Public Defender Contract for 2002-03  Three applicatns for the position were interviewed on December 19, 2001.  The commission decided to offer Karen Allen the position.

Motion:   Commissioner Ross motioned to accept the application from Karen Allen for Eighth District Court Public Defender.  A salary of $82,000 per annual contract with the option to renew for an additional year will be offered.  Commissioner Stradinger second.  Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  All Commissioners Voting Aye.

Planning & Zoning Board Appointments
Motion:  Commissioner Ross motioned to appoint Michael Barneck to a four-year term representing the Roosevelt/Myton area, Leon Sweat to a four-year term to represent the Fruitland area, and re-appoint Alan White to a four-year term as the Upper Country representative.  Commissioner Stradinger second.  Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  All Commissioners Voting Aye.

Auditor's Office - Vouchers - Department Head Time Sheets - Personnel Issues  Vouchers:   Deputy Clerk/Auditor Andrea Higbee presented vouchers #77581 to #77655 totaling $137,765.39 for approval.

Motion:   Commissioner Ross motioned to approve the vouchers.  Commissioner Stradinger second.  Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  All Commissioners Voting Aye.

Time Sheets:  Deputy Clerk/Auditor Leann Stewart presented the department head time sheets for review.

Executive Session - Personnel Issues - Judy Mutton
Motion:  Commissioner Stradinger motioned at 10:40 A.M. to go into executive session to discuss personnel issues.  Commissioner Ross second.   Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  All Commissioners Voting Aye.

Motion:   Commissioner Stradinger motioned at 11:04 A.M. to go out of executive session.   Commissioner Ross second.  Motion carried.  Roll Call Vote:  All Commissioners Voting Aye.

Dental Select Insurance -  Judy presented the contract for Dental Select Insurance to the commission for signature.
